This week, the HotHouse Media & Events team helped launch Australia’s first Debenhams.
In a week that commenced with media walkthroughs for business journalists followed by fashion and beauty media famil and culminated with a spectacular opening day ceremony, we have had a ball.
Debenhams St. Collins Lane officially opened with a bang at 10 am on Tuesday 24th October. We had the pleasure of welcoming the Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle and British Consul General, Christopher Holtby to cut the ribbon alongside Debenhams Australia MD, Graham Dean and Manager of Australia Projects, Christine Proctor.
The opening of Debenhams was, of course, the perfect opportunity to highlight all things British, paying tribute with iconic grenadier guards, adorable corgi puppies, branded Mini Minor cars and a vintage red telephone box.

The iconic British retailer is the first of its kind in Melbourne and is a deliberate shift away from the traditional department store format. Debenhams offers exclusive and affordable brands, exceptional service and an intimate, curated experience for customers. The store also offers an extensive collection of men’s and women’s apparel, sleepwear and intimates, athleisure, accessories and homewares, along with established beauty and fragrance brands including the likes of MAC, Tom Ford, Bobbi Brown, Gucci, Chloe and Valentino.
Debenhams St. Collins Lane joins a portfolio of 243 Debenhams stores across 28 countries worldwide. The store is an ultra-modern fashion mecca with in-store services including a style suite, beauty rooms, mobile POS, café and mobile app.
With Christmas just around the corner, make sure you download the app and head to Debenhams soon.
