It was an ast-hounding finish to the sixth annual Dog Lovers Show as a record-breaking 37,000 attendees headed to the spectacu-fur event last weekend.

Embracing our nation’s sporting fever (or should we say s-paw-ting?), 2018 welcomed the debut of the first ever Common Woof Games, with canine competitors battling it out in 11 sports including hurdles, diving, discus, socca and basketball.

Australian Working Dog Rehab International (AWDRI) hosted the first ever sheepdog speed herding trials in a custom-built paddock in the Royal Exhibition Building forecourt. While the talented rescue dogs drew a crowd, it was the puppy cadets that had dog lovers in a frenzy.

DockDogs proved to be another crowd pleaser as attendees of all ages jockeyed for prime positioning in the splash-zone.

With a bigger rescue component than ever before, the Show also welcomed a plethora of pooch-mad celebs, including Dr Katrina Warren, Dr Harry Cooper, Neighbours’ Andrew Morley, former Bulldogs star Bob Murphy, 2017 Cosmo Bachelor of the Year Ryan Anderson, Gogglebox’s Wayne and Tom, and DJ Havana Brown with her Insta-famous Yorkie Ba*Bing.
